We are currently seeking a qualified BPI certified Home Energy Analyst. This individual will have to successfully complete required training from PSE.

RESPONSABILITIES:
• Conduct home energy evaluations in customers’ homes which include:
o Determine insulation levels.
o Visual check of age and condition of HVAC equipment and ducts.
o Visual check of windows and weather-stripping.
o Install compact fluorescent bulbs and hot water savings devices.
o Complete a Home Energy Review form to capture home data and track compact fluorescent bulbs or water saving devices that are installed.
o Encourage homeowners to undertake recommended specific energy savings measures based upon home energy audit.
o Explain applicable incentives, loans, and tax credits for energy efficiency improvements.
o Educate customers on other applicable programs such as Home Performance with Energy Star and encourage them to participate in other programs.
• Establish effective communication with an estimator and other parts of the company to ensure projects are completed in a timely and effective manner.
• Additional duties as assigned and determined by program and customer needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Current BPI Certification
• HERS RESNET, and PTCS certifications are a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge of and/or a strong interest in residential energy conservation.
• Experience or knowledge of residential construction and design, and building methods and materials preferred. Field experience doing energy audits a plus.
• Strong customer relationship skills and experience. Outreach and/or sales experience desirable.
• Must be detail oriented and self motivated.
• Good math skills including geometry.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet).
• Capable of lifting and carrying boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as a six foot ladder, and the physical ability to inspect small, confined spaces.
• Must have a reliable motor vehicle for daily business use, a good driving record, and ability to store and transport a six foot ladder and other equipment.
• Education in Building Materials, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Energy Management, or related field preferred.
• Experience with blower door, duct blaster and other energy use diagnostic equipment a plus.
• Reliable, hardworking, trustworthy.
• Honesty, integrity, organization, and promptness. You represent our company, our industry, as well as the utilities that we work for.
• Ability to pass drug screening, driving record check, and criminal
background check.
• Valid driver’s license.

Compensation depends on experience. We pay mileage.

PSE’s Energy Efficiency Services group is looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. This position reviews and evaluates energy efficiency projects installed by independent contractors in order to verify installation, examine the quality of installation and to calculate energy savings achieved or to be achieved. Quality assurance ensures all program standards are adhered to including customer and structure qualifications, quality of contractor workmanship, effectiveness of installed measures, and home performance before and/or after customer’s program participation. Inspections are performed to determine contractor and/or customer eligibility for PSE grants or rebates. The Quality Assurance Specialist will inform contractor of findings, potential consequences and remedies for work not meeting the standards specified by the program. The Quality Assurance Specialist will train independent contractors on PSE systems, certification requirements and rebate qualifications. This position requires a significant amount of field presence and travel within the company operations area. The ability to communicate PSE demand side management programs and identify best practices in providing energy efficiency services and installation of energy efficient equipment and materials is also required.

Qualifications

Required:

· Demonstrated experience in building science specific to heating, cooling, lighting, weatherization, and/or other energy efficiency products and projects.

INSULATION
• Repairing and installing insulation for residential home components — attics, walls, and
floors, duct work, plumbing supply lines, installing vapor barriers, and more.  Using several
different types/brands of insulation and several installation methods.
• Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, power
saws, knives or scissors.
• Cover and line structures with blown or rolled forms of materials to insulate against cold,
heat, or moisture, using saws, knives, rasps, trowels, blowers, and other tools and
implements.
• Fits, wrap, staple or glues insulating materials to structures or surfaces, using hand tools or
wires.
• Covers, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, screens, canvas
strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.
• Distribute insulating materials evenly into small spaces within floors, ceilings or walls using
blowers and hose attachments, or cement mortars.
• Fill blower hoppers with insulating materials.
• Move controls, buttons, or levers to start blowers and regulates flow of materials through
nozzles.
• Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives cement or
asphalt or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.
• Where necessary, remove old insulation following safety procedures.

DUCT SEALING.
• Sealing duct work by coating seams with mastic to stop leakage.  Doing minor repair of duct
work and informing supervisor when ducts need more substantial repairs.  Ability to perform
a pressure test and complete appropriate paperwork with the customer.
AIR SEALING BUILDING ENVELOPE
• Air sealing attics, basements, and crawl spaces to reduce drafts and increase energy
efficiency.
• Selecting and installing appropriate air sealing materials for the job.
• Following all safety and installation standards.
• Performing air sealing in attics and basements using caulk, foam, metal flashing, and more.
• Installing weather-stripping, door sweeps, and caulking inside homes.
• Tracking materials used, time spent, and air tightness achieved
• Eventual ability to (1) run blower door tests to determine the leakiness of customer’s home,
(2) run combustion safety tests, and (3) calculate areas, volumes, and other specifications.
Interim ability to coordinate with in-house energy auditor who will perform these tasks
before, during, and after air sealing.
ALL WORK
Involves going into crawl spaces and attics – small tight, and often dirty conditions – and
working with fiberglass insulation and duct mastic.  Involves standing, bending, crawling,
kneeling, and ladder climbing. Some of the work requires the use of protective gear, such as
masks, respirators, and full suits.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Possess a knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or
repair of houses and knowledge of basic tool use.
• HVAC experience and insulation experience desired.
• Good math skills including geometry.
• Customer service experience.
• Reliable, hardworking, trustworthy.
• Honesty, the ability to keep track of company tools, and an ethic producing complete, quality
work with no shortcuts.  For quality assurance, all jobs will be inspected by the company
owner, and then by the utility that provides financial incentives for homeowners to do the
work.
• Ability to left up to 50 pounds.

Scope of work:
-Supervision of home energy retrofits and labor crew in the Seattle area
-Carpentry related to installation of insulation, ducts, and efficiency measures.

Primary duties consist of:
-Organize, manage, train for energy retrofit, insulation, air-sealing, ventilation work on existing single-family homes
-Assist in preparing areas to be insulated, including siding removal and drilling
-Setup, provide guidance on operation of cellulose insulation blower
-Supervise blown-in & dense-pack insulation of existing walls; drilling & plugging holes
-Oversee Installation of other insulation, such as rigid foam or Ecobatt
-Removal and installation of blown and batted insulation to PSE or State Weatherization Program specifications; Installation/replacement of vapor barriers
-Sealing and insulating ducts; Insulating water heaters and pipes
-Installing CO2 alarms and using manometer to test homes (training available)
-Finish work, minor repairs, patching holes, painting and cleanup
-Maintain supply list, work order tracking, crew member timesheets

Additional work may include scoping and bidding, overseeing specialty subcontractors (HVAC, electrical) and related weatherization improvements.

Qualifications:
-Ability to actively lead small crew(s) to perform work in an efficient manner
-Direct experience in insulation and ventilation systems installation required
-Be a motivated team player and willing to train crew members
-Be willing to manage projects happening in multiple locations at once
-Minimum 4 yrs building construction or rehab experience
-Minimum one year of insulation experience
-Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable truck
