   Since I have been quite active on Wikipedia in the past, I have been asked why there was nothing about home performance on Wikipedia yet. There was an article about building performance, which described the same thing. So I created a page that automatically redirects to that page when a reader searches for "home performance". Since that article was very poor (a "stub", as it's called at Wikipedia), I started expanding it. But I know there are some much more knowledgeable people here than me, and it would be nice if you could contribute with your expertise and correct any misconceptions I have. Of course, Wikipedia is not there to promote anyone's business, and it is important to keep a neutral point of view. But since this is building science, I think that shouldn't be too hard. One thing that's increasingly more important at Wikipedia is to back up everything with reliable sources. (For instance, I found a number of good .gov pages.)

   Other worthwhile topics that aren't covered yet include:

   * combustion safety
   * Energy Performance Score
   * home energy retrofit / home performance retrofit

   Sebastian,

   Thanks for taking this on. It has long bothered me that the terms we use in home performance are almost completely opaque to the public. Building scientists need to let the public in on their little secrets, and that is what Wikipedia is for.

   The timing is really good, because home performance will be in the news due to Home Star. What do we want our mom's to find when they look up Energy Auditor on the internet?

   Everybody: If you have knowledge or material to contribute to the global knowledge base, consider creating or improving a Wikipedia article.

   Sebastian, who has considerable experience, has offered to help. He knows the tech and rules. Rules such as: Cite your sources. Be objective. Don't be self serving.

   To me the most important rule is to be clear and concise so that the world may read and understand.
