   Member Spotlight: Craig Kruter
   - Recognized Craig's accomplishment in passing Energy Audit Course at South Seattle Community College. Craig received retraining support from the Washington Veteran's Corp. He stresses how much how energy auditing is science based.

   Membership Document
   - Ammen presented an overview of the current draft membership document.

   Guest Speaker: Evoworx
   - Leo from Evoworx presented how HPW members can now manage their own profile online. Everything from your type of work to company logo can now be edited by yourself.

   Policy Update: David Bangs

   -HPW's message is resonating with existing industry as evidenced by the quickly growing size of membership. WSU and KCHA have joined HPW. Important utilities may soon follow suit.

   - Policy document positions HPW as an organization to bring together all stakeholders in the home performance field to foster economic development and fight global change through whole house energy retrofits.

   The message also includes that HPW:

   - Wants to make an industry that lasts and stands on its own beyond ARRA funding.
   - Cultivate a more malleable industry by creating private jobs over government or utility jobs. Encourage utilities and governments to use home performance contractors and auditors as part of their existing referral networks.
   - Auditors develop retrofit plans in right order (e.g. air sealing before insulation)
   - Promote numerical, MPG for every home
   - Promote and brand "Home Performance" in WA

   HPW General Meeting Notes
   12 January 2010

    City of Seattle – Presented by Shamim Mohandessi
   The City of Seattle will hold its audit program training on the 2nd or 3rd week of February. Application for
   participation will be posted on their web site and circulated through HPW. Amanda Aiko (City of Seattle)
   wanted everyone to know that they are working on hiring contractor and standards (ARRA); revolving
   loan program; Homewise is coming up with quality standards to be put on a prequalified list. There is no
   timeline but the city will be working with HPW to develop these standards.
    David Bangs presents on federal weatherization programs (Cash for Caulkers/HomeStar)
   Program is officially called HomeStar, and it would provide instant rebates for performance-based
   weatherization. It has been endorsed by President Obama. It is now going through Congress and could
   possibly be ready for state implementation in March.

    Sonja Gustafson (Marketing Manager G2b) presented on Seattle Efficient Loan Fund (SELF)
   City of Seattle won stimulus funding for $1,000,000 in “loan loss reserve” and has attracted another
   $17,000,000. Mostly going to commercial, but $1.5 million is allocated for residential projects, estimated
   to serve 150 homes (in Seattle). Homeowners will pay loan back to bank and the idea is that it will not
   cost the homeowner any extra money because they will be saving money on their utility bills. Hope is
   this program will attract more capital. And can be continuously populated by the success of the
   program. Program is still under contract negations. Look for details in summer.
    Announcement: Zehnder, an HRV company, whose product is Passivhaus certified and supposedly
   performing much better than anything in the U.S. market will be in Seattle on Feb 3. Check HPW
   website for details.

    Richard Steven (Fulcra Consultants) present on small business management for contractors and
   energy auditors.

   Lots of activity since formation of HPW
   Membership drive was a success. HPW now has 76 members.

   Integration with renewable energy
   Develop labor force to match demand generated from HomeStar, PSE and SCL programs
   (Market analysis)
   Streamline reporting and standards that can be transferrable between auditors and contractors
   Tool bank/collective for auditors/contractors
   Knowledge sharing and teach-ins
   Ensure unqualified workers don’t damage weatherization reputation
   Creating more financing programs
   Connect investors with smaller companies (micro- or bundle- loans)
   Building relationships state-wide
   Lobbying at state level to encourage small home performance business growth
   Energy Performance Score – reach out to realtors
   Independent/Integrated Auditor debate
   Can retrofits qualify for carbon credits? Track carbon reduction generated by HPW members
